Cake Decorating Tutors
Meet The Cake Collegers! All of our cake decorating tutors are locally renowned cake decorators, who have many years of professional cake decorating experience, and who have won awards including Gold and Silver awards at Cake International. And (we think more importantly), they are all lovely and will help you feel at ease, even if you’ve no cake decorating experience whatsoever.
The Cake College was set up by Lucy, who has had a passion for cake design and sugarpaste for years, and who wanted to share the ability to make beautiful cakes with as many people as possible. Lucy has a particular fondness for vintage and super pretty style cakes, and along with baking, also has a love of reading and dancing around the kitchen with her children.
Natalie is a born and bred Yorkshire girl with baking talents passed down from her granny! She loves neatness and things looking pretty and this is reflected in her cake designs. Natalie is obsessed with cake, particularly natural fruit flavoured cakes made using as little additives as possible, and also loves to embrace new techniques, styles and trends. Aside from baking, she is also a lover of handbags, Tom Hardy and has a dangerous addiction to chocolate. To see Natalie’s cake skills and read her musings, check out her website or blog.
Jenni is our Berkshire girl who has a passion for art and discovered her love of baking after becoming a mum. Jenni loves creating original designs by trying new techniques and ideas for her edible art. Her enthusiasm for all things cake shows in her dream wedding cakes and bespoke novelty work. When she isn’t decorating a new creation, Jenni enjoys reading a good book and having family adventures. You can see Jenni’s cake creations on her website.
Clare lives in South Oxfordshire where she creates bespoke wedding cakes and desert tables for her clients. Her style reflects her passion for art, design and colour, focussing on bold and contemporary cakes fused with pretty and natural touches. She particularly loves creating extravagant desert tables which often requires plenty of macaron taste testing! When she’s not working on a cake, Clare can often be found growing ingredients and edible flowers on her allotment or making gingerbread men with her daughter. Debs hails from a lot further south than the rest of our team but eventually settled in Surrey. Her biscuit and cake obsession comes from a childhood wheat allergy. She’s been baking ever since being given the all clear to make up for lost time! Sugar flowers are her first love, but iced biscuits are a very close second. When not covered in icing sugar, Debs is most likely to be found out walking her two rescue dogs. To see Deb’s beautiful cakes and cookies, take a look at her website.
Sally is our ace classroom assistant. She is an Army wife so excels at organising people (which is frankly what we need), but also loves chatting cake and makes a mean cup of coffee. When she’s not keeping us all in check at The Cake College, Sally can be found attempting to control her unruly labrador, and (far more successfully) her four gorgeous children.
Graeme has no cake decorating skills whatsoever, and wouldn’t know a piping bag from a palette knife. However, as Chief Tasting Officer of The Cake College, he feels that his role is vital in class development and student satisfaction. When not eating ridiculous amounts of cake under the guise of quality control, he can be found DIY’ing and reading car magazines.
