Core Skills Classes
This group of short classes are all aimed at learning or perfecting one key cake decorating skill.
They are all suitable for complete beginners, or competent cake bakers and decorators that would like help with one specific area.
All classes will be held in the same week, and you can pick and choose which you'd like to do. There are discounts for multiple class bookings, so the more you book, the more money you save.
Full details of each class are below so you can see what each will teach you and when it's being held. You can choose how many you'd like to do, and the package to suit. At checkout you'll then select your exact choice of classes.

CLASS OPTIONS
Buttercream Piping
Wednesday 16th July | 9.30am - 12.30pm
You will make your own Swiss meringue buttercream in this class, and then learn to pipe basic shapes, on to a cake dummy. This will include cupcake techniques, rosettes, swirls, swags, stringwork and ruffles. You will be able to ask questions about buttercream making and consistency, and will get a recipe for buttercream too.
Royal Icing Piping
Wednesday 16th July | 1.30pm - 4.30pm
This session will teach you how to pipe royal icing, using pre-prepared icing. You'll learn various techniques including string work, shells, swags and flowers, as well as using tools such as a press ice. You will pipe on to a flat surface and a cake dummy. You will be able to ask questions about royal icing making and consistency too.
Cake Foundations - Fondant
Thursday 17th July | 9.30am - 12.30pm
You will fill and ganache a pre-prepared 6" sponge cake to achieve sharp edges, and give you a good foundation for a professional finish with fondant. You'll then panel cover your cake to achieve smooth sides and sharp edges, and you can then take your covered cake home to be finished off with any other decorations required.
Cake Foundations - Buttercream
Thursday 17th July | 1.30pm - 4.30pm
You will make your own American buttercream, before using it to fill and ice a pre-prepared 6" sponge cake to achieve smooth sides and sharp edges. You'll then be able to take your cake home to be finished off with any other decorations or toppers required.
Novelty Embellishments
Friday 18th July | 9.30am - 12.30pm
You will learn to create a selection of fun novelty decorations for use on kids birthday and other celebration cakes using fondant, buttercream, and wafer paper. You will make rainbows, clouds, mermaid tails, grass, fur, wood, sugar bows, and wafer paper sails. You'll learn the techniques to be able to include them in a huge variety of cake themes, and take them home to use on your own bakes.
Floral Decorations
Friday 18th July |1.30pm - 4.30pm
In this session you will create a selection of delicate unwired sugar flowers using flower paste, to use at home to decorate cookies, cakes and cupcakes. You will make hydrangeas, petunias, blossoms, leaves, roses, bas relief and more. You will add colour in your own choice of colour scheme with dusts, and embellish with sprinkles.
