Easter Baking Class

This seasonal spring class will teach you how to make a range of delicious Easter bakes, to take home and share with friends and family. You do not need any baking experience for this class, and it is ideal for beginners or those that would like to expand their range of baking. You will learn the essential skills of baking so that you can apply them to any cake or recipe. 

In this class, you will make a classic carrot cake with vanilla flavour buttercream and other decorations, a lemon Swiss roll filled with lemon curd, and a 'customise your own' rocky road with various fillings to choose from including Easter classics like mini eggs.

All equipment is provided, and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake baking during the class. You will also have class notes which include each tried and tested cake recipe so that you can recreate your cakes at home.

During this class you will learn how to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of baking and troubleshoot any problems

  • Understand your ingredients and how to prepare them

  • Bake perfect, level sponges for use in family bakes, birthday and other celebration cakes

  • Adapt recipes to create your own flavours for your cakes

  • Bake a stunning lemon Swiss roll 

  • Create delicious buttercream for your cakes

  • Bake a classic carrot cake and learn how to make simple sugarpaste decorations to make it look perfect

  • Make rocky road using a range of different ingredients

  • Scale your recipes up and down to suit your occasion

  • Troubleshoot common problems such as domed cakes, cracked cakes, sunken cakes, burned edges, and overflowing tins
