A fun class learning this popular ‘fault line’ trend, perfect for birthdays and other celebrations, where you will bake and decorate your own cake. We will cover everything from baking the perfect four layers of sponge through to achieving a flawless finish. A class full of baking, buttercream and sprinkles, ideal for beginners!


By the end of the day you will have confidence in basic baking fundamentals, be able to confidently fill and ice a buttercream cake, and be able to apply the fault line technique to any type of cake you like.​

All equipment is provided, and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake decorating during the class.  You will also have class notes which include recipes so that you can recreate your cake at home.


During this class you will learn how to:

  • Bake a perfect, level vanilla sponge

  • Make American buttercream

  • Split, fill and layer your cakes

  • Crumbcoat

  • Apply sprinkles to large areas

  • Achieve the fault line look

  • Add embellishments and work with edible paint and metallics

  • Troubleshoot common problems
