A lovely festive class, which will teach you to make a delicious sponge cake, and smooth buttercream too. 


You will learn the art of getting crisp buttercream stripes, in any colour scheme you choose, and will then finish it off by making some pretty sugar roses and berries for decoration, and crystallising fresh decorations too. 


This class is ideal for beginners, and no experience is necessary.  

By the end of the day you will have confidence in basic baking fundamentals and  be able to create a tall striped cake.

All equipment is provided, and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake decorating during the class.  You will also have class notes which include recipes so that you can recreate your cake at home.


During this class you will learn how to:

  • Bake perfect, level sponges

  • Make smooth buttercream

  • Split, fill and layer your cakes

  • Crumbcoat your cake and achieve sharp buttercream stripes

  • Crystallise decoratons for a pretty festive finish

  • Make simple edible roses and berries
