This class will give you confidence in basic baking fundamentals and teach you to be able to confidently fill and ice a deep buttercream cake. You'll learn how to work with buttercream and colours to create the ombre effect, and basic piping skills for both buttercream and meringue. This class is ideal for beginners, and no experience is necessary.  

All equipment is provided, and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake decorating during the class.  You will also have class notes which include recipes so that you can recreate your cake at home.


During this class you will learn how to:

  • Bake perfect, level sponges

  • Make smooth American buttercream

  • Work with chocolate ganache to give your tall cake stability 

  • Split, fill, layer and dowel your cakes to create a tall cake

  • Achieve the ombre effect with buttercream and food colourings

  • Create a professional finish with buttercream

  • Pipe details on top of your cake and embellish with sprinkles

  • Colour, pipe and bake meringue kisses

  • Troubleshoot common problems

  • And more!
