painted cake class

This painted cake class provides something a little different to the usual decorating techniques, and will teach you how to create stunning paint effects on cakes. It’s all totally edible and much easier to achieve than you may think.

You don't need to have any experience in painting, or even have held a paintbrush before!  This method means that even the most un-artistic of us can produce something unique and pretty and is an ideal introductory class to edible painting, as well as wafer paper flowers.

At the end of the class, you’ll have a stunning cake to take home and eat with your friends and family, and will have learnt new skills so that you can recreate the cake another time. All equipment is provided (including a delicious cake for you to decorate), and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake decorating during the class.

During this class you will learn how to:

  • Split and level your sponge cake and sandwich it together with ganache

  • Cover and crumbcoat your cake with ganache

  • Cover your cake with sugarpaste

  • Choose an effective colour scheme and layouts

  • Paint with food gels

  • Choose the correct brush for each effect

  • Correct and erase mistakes

  • Make pretty wafer paper flowers

  • Add the final finishing touches and embellishments, such as ribbon and dusts
