pretty cake basics class

This cake class will teach you how to crumbcoat, ganache and cover a cake in sugarpaste. It provides something a little different to the usual decorating techniques, and will also teach you how to create stunning a floral effect on cakes. It’s all totally edible and much easier to achieve than you may think.

This method means that even the most un-artistic of us can produce something unique and pretty and is an ideal introductory class to cake decorating, or for those who have some experience but would like to learn new techniques.

At the end of the class, you’ll have a stunning cake to take home and eat with your friends and family, and will have learnt new skills so that you can recreate the cake another time. All equipment is provided (including delicious cakes for you to decorate), and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake decorating during the class.


During this class you will learn how to:

  • Split and level your sponge cakes and sandwich them together with ganache

  • Cover and crumbcoat your cake with ganache

  • Cover your cake with sugarpaste

  • Choose an effective colour scheme and layout

  • Create the on trend 'bas relief' effect

  • Add the final finishing touches and embellishments, such as ribbon and dusts
